Faux Calligraphy and Paper Printing Workshop
March 10 @ 2:00 pm - 4:30 pm
This is the perfect girl’s morning out! Relaxing, entertaining, inspiring & filled with creativity! Take away lots of finished projects & the inspiration for so much more!!Everywhere, I am doing lettering that would be considered ‘faux Calligraphy’ (I have even heard it termed ‘fauxlligraphy’!) It is easy, uses tools you already have at home, and builds your basic lettering skills in a fun way! Using your own handwriting and prompts form lettered alphabets, you can do this! DO NOT think you can’t do this because you don’t like your normal handwriting…I know that you can!!!
All Materials are provided. This technique will be fun for you to develop on your own with other materials and surfaces! Pretty soon you will be lettering everywhere!
To add to the fun & get you really relaxed, we will start off the day with a creative printmaking session. Using vintage Paducah Symphony Orchestra Music sheets, beautiful old batik printing blocks & rubber stamps You will learn to create your own fabulous substrate papers for your lettering! This will allow you time to relax, take in the colors, movement and get ready for all the wonderful lettering to come!
Light Kirchoff’s snacks and coffee from Etc. is provided for extra inspiration (who doesn’t create better with yummies!!) with this fun workshop!
With “fauxlligraphy” you will take your normal cursive handwriting and you’ll dress it up to make it look like calligraphy. With these printmaking materials, you will do the same to these old papers. Combine it all together & you have magic!
